Alicia Securo Named Director of Rehabilitation

Alicia Securo has been hired as director of short-term rehabilitation.

In her new role, Mrs. Securo (Rubino), a Warren native who now resides in Bristol, serves as the primary physical therapist, managing patient caseloads and overseeing an in-house staff of seven licensed physical, occupational and speech therapists. The Grace Barker Rehabilitation Center, housed in The Cove at Grace Barker (formerly called the Grace Barker Nursing Center) was recently renovated to include state-of-the art stationary bicycles and other therapeutic exercise and support equipment for helping patients improve their strength, balance, gait, endurance, pain reduction, transfers, swallowing, cognition, and activities of daily living.

Prior to joining Grace Barker Health, Mrs. Securo worked in physical therapy at several health care facilities in the area for over a decade. A 2006 graduate of University of Rhode Island (Kingston), she earned a master of science degree in Physical Therapy and a bachelor of science degree in Human Development and Family Studies.

“Alicia helped to elevate the level of care and capabilities of our in-house rehabilitation facility,” states Mark Lescault, administrator of Grace Barker Heatlh. “In addition to researching and securing the proper equipment, she has streamlined interaction and communication between our medical, nursing and rehab departments. This onsite collaboration assists patients in their overall recovery and care, and can help them to get home quicker. She continues to create programs to further address the needs of both our residents and short-term rehab patients, and we are grateful to have her on board.”

The Grace Barker Health Rehabilitation Center is open for admission and therapy seven days a week, providing short-term rehabilitation and sub-acute care services to patients who are recovering from a hospitalization or a health event such as a stroke or heart attack.
