COVID-19 Update: January 4, 2021

Dear Families of Residents at The Cove:

The new year is off to a promising and hopeful start, as we announce that our onsite COVID-19 vaccination clinic date has been set.

Our clinical provider, CVS Health, will be administering the COVID-19 vaccine to residents and staff at The Cove on Thursday, January 14, 2021.

Although it’s not mandatory, our Medical Director and Attending Physician recommend that all residents at The Cove get the vaccine, even if they have tested positive in the past. Every resident will be assessed for eligibility based on CVS’s guidance.

The vaccine will be administered in two doses, so a follow-up date for the second dose is yet to be determined.

Several weeks ago, your family’s Responsible Party was sent the required paperwork forms to indicate whether your loved one will get inoculated. Consent forms are due to be completed and submitted to us no later than 5:00 p.m. on January 8th. Please note that this deadline is set in stone and there will be no exceptions allowable for accepting late paperwork or decisions after that date as we are required to have the paperwork ready for CVS.

*Please note that if your loved one has received the Monoclonal Antibody Therapy, they are not eligible for this round of the vaccine, but will be eligible at a later vaccination date.

We have been busy preparing operationally for this onsite clinic. Staff will be receiving the vaccine, as well. We appreciate your patience and understanding that general inquiry phone calls may take our staff longer to return in the coming weeks and particularly on the clinic date.

The Cove remains at Level 3 visitation restriction as the community spread of the coronavirus in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts remains high. The vaccine gives us hope that we are so close to the end of this pandemic. We look forward to your full cooperation in helping to make this a reality.

Sincerely,

Benjamin Lescault, Assistant Administrator
Mary Beth Lescault, Director of Nursing Services
