COVID-19 Update: Mother’s Day 2021

Dear Families of Residents at The Cove and The Willows:

Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 9th and we have just received updated guidance from the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) regarding visitation for this special day.

First, we apologize for such last-minute notice, but we only received word from RIDOH yesterday evening.

On Sunday, May 9, 2021 ONLY, we are expanding our indoor in-person visitation to 60 minutes. The following rules will be in effect this Sunday:

  • Visitation time will be for 60 minutes max
  • Visits are limited to 2 designated persons per family
  • Visitors must RSVP* in advance so that we may adhere to building capacity limits and physical distance requirements, per RIDOH
  • Visitors who have RSVPd in advance may ‘drop in’ anytime between the hours of 11:00 am and 3:00 pm only. All visits will end at 3:00 pm, so plan your arrival time accordingly to take advantage of the full 60 minutes allowed.
  • All visitors must be over the age of 16
  • Visitors are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This may be a factor in allowing visits to certain residents/roommates in frail health.
  • Screening will be conducted by staff at the Main Entrance. Please expect some delays if the line is long.
  • All visitors must wear well-fitting face coverings at all time, regardless if they are vaccinated or not
  • Do not come to The Cove or The Willows if you are not feeling well
  • You may bring gifts such as flowers, balloons, and pre-packaged, unopened edible snacks such as chocolates or candy

*RSVP with names of the two designated visitors and the name of the resident before 9:00 pm on Friday, May 7th to RSVP@GraceBarkerHealth.com. Due to the high volume of emails expected, we ask that each family send one RSVP email only. You will receive a confirmation of your visitation acceptance on or before Saturday at noon. Families who RSVP after the cut-off date will be placed on a waiting list.

We ask in advance for your compliance with and understanding of these rules designed to keep both residents and staff as safe as possible from the spread of the coronavirus. If all goes well, we can be allowed to repeat this “drop in” style of visitation and potentially expand it in the near future.

At 3:00 pm, our residents will be enjoying their own special Mother’s Day celebration featuring a Tea Party complete with hats, gloves, tea, cookies and pastries, and fun activities. This has been planned for some time, and residents are really looking forward to it.

To date, we remain COVID-free at Grace Barker Health and appreciate your vigilance in helping us to keep it that way

Sincerely,

Mark Lescault, Administrator
Benjamin Lescault, Assistant Administrator
Mary Beth Lescault, Director of Nursing Services
