Spring 2021 Updates

Dear Families of Residents at The Cove and The Willows:

Spring has sprung at Grace Barker Health, and we have lots of news updates to share with you.

COVID CASES
We are pleased to report that there have been no cases of residents or staff testing positive for COVID-19 in the past several months. Everyone continues to be tested weekly and monitored for symptoms.

VACCINATION CLINIC APRIL 1

Thanks to the work of the new administration leaders at the State of Rhode Island, we are planning another vaccination clinic. This will be held at both The Cove and The Willows on Thursday, April 1. With the help of State leaders, additional clinics are being offered moving forward. Residents have already been identified to receive the inoculations, and we’ll be reaching out to their families to coordinate the consent paperwork.

VISITATION
Per the Rhode Island Department of Health guidance, we are allowing limited in-person visitation. These 30-minute visits take place indoors in the common area, and must be scheduled in advance. As the weather gets warmer and restrictions lessen in our surrounding community, we expect to offer outdoor visitation in the coming months. All recommended safety protocols remain in place for each visit, including the use of mandatory pre-approved face coverings, hand hygiene and monitoring of symptoms. To schedule your visit, go to https://www.gracebarkerhealth.com/schedule-a-family-visit to select an available time slot. This web-based scheduling system is working quite well. We’ve been able to increase to 6 time slots per day for visits, versus just two per day last year.

EASTER SUNDAY APRIL 4
Residents will be having their own special celebration of this holy day. Chef Kathy has a delicious Easter Sunday Dinner meal planned, and Gloria in Activities will be conducting basket-making, egg coloring, bunny painting, Easter games, movies, and more. There will not be any visits available for family members on this day, however additional time slots will be added before April 4th. Gifts for your loved one may be dropped off at any time, including on Easter Sunday, to the front door. We have removed the three-day ‘hold’ policy and can accept everything from flowers and balloons to candy and chocolates – and everything in between.

Wishing you and yours a happy Easter with much continued health and blessings.

Sincerely,
Mark Lescault, Administrator
Benjamin Lescault, Assistant Administrator
Mary Beth Lescault, Director of Nursing Services
