Wordfind: Cultural Activities for Seniors

wordfindResearchers from University College London have found that taking part in cultural events is a great way to reduce depression among older adults.

“Cultural activities not only help people manage and recover from depression, but can actually prevent it,” said study author Dr. Daisy Fancourt. “Generally speaking, people know the benefits of eating their five-a-day and of exercise for their physical and mental health, but there is very little awareness that cultural activities also have similar benefits. People engage with culture for the pure enjoyment of doing so, but we need to be raising awareness of their wider benefits, too.”

There are so many opportunities for taking part in cultural events, no matter a senior’s health condition, income, or where they live. Push your boundaries a little bit—try something new! Need some ideas? This puzzle contains the names of 20 different cultural activities.
